The specialization named initially Chemical Equipment was established in 1951. Speciality classes started in 1953 and were coordinated by a team that became chair and later department.
During the coming period of time several forms of engineering higher education were in place: graduate with a duration of 5/6 years (day/evening series), bachelor/undergraduate with a duration of 3/4 years (day/evening series).
The chair was led by professor Mihail Renert (1973 – 1975), associate professor Valeriu V. Jinescu (1975 – 1986), associate professor Gheorghe Iordache (1986 – 1992) and professor Valeriu V. Jinescu (1992 – 02.2012). In 2011, based on the existing chair structure, the Department of Industrial Process Equipment was established. Since March 2012, the department head is professor Nicoleta Teodorescu.
